The purpose of AMACE is to provide its students quality education necessary to succeed in a global economy. It is our resolve to promote high academic standards, attract high quality teachers and foster parent school involvement. We are committed to develop students who are independent, responsible, innovative, reflective, curious and life long learners.
We strongly believe that education should provide opportunities for cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Hence we offer a balanced curriculum comprising of internationally reputed academic program facilitated in a group and individual settings in a rich and varied context along with benchmarked non academic activities provided by the professionals in the industry
Our Founder
The Board of Trustees serves a critical function in the governance of school boards. The Board of Trustees at the Durham District School Board (DDSB) has 11 trustees who are elected for a four-year term and three student trustees who serve a one-year term. While trustees are elected by area, they work together as a Board of Trustees on matters of policy in the best interests of parents and students from across Durham Region.
Our trustees are important advocates for public education and are committed to student achievement and well-being. They serve as an important link to our diverse communities and often bring forward matters of concern to the Board table to facilitate meaningful discussion and policy making. .
WHAT WE OFFER
CTE PROGRAMS
AMACE offers Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses at select middle schools and all four comprehensive high schools. CTE courses enable scholars in grades 6-12 to explore various fields of interest, connect their learning with the real-world, and gain important skills necessary for life after high school and future careers.
MUSIC & ARTS
AMACE is proud of our rich tradition of music and art. From award winning bands, jazz, orchestra, choirs, ensembles, artists and more, AMACE is consistently recognized at various competitions throughout the state and region.
EARLY LEARNING
AMACE offers high quality and affordable pre-kindergarten programs including preschool, developmental preschool, and tuition-based preschool, and Bright Futures Kindergarten.
ACADEMIC RIGOR
We believe every scholar can learn at the highest levels, and we provide the supports and environment necessary for all students to learn and thrive.
STEM
In AMACE, STEM stands for more than just science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Whether your child envisions building the next skyscraper in the Seattle skyline, or developing the newest virtual reality gaming experience, STEM and STEAM (STEM with an emphasis on the arts) learning that takes place in AMACE will prepare them to explore these possibilities.
ATHLETICS
AMACE believes activities and athletics are important choices to be offered in a comprehensive and challenging educational experience for all scholars. The goals of the activities and athletic program are to teach sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
Social emotional learning empowers young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe and healthy communities. In elementary schools, we use the Second Step curriculum, host morning meetings, teach bullying prevention lessons, and more. Our middle and high schools will have a standard guaranteed and viable curriculum to support social emotional learning—Character Strong.
